So.. I just got our first engagement present from my mom's best friend! A picture frame a binder to plan everything and The Wedding Book! I'm so excited!

The Proposal!

So it happened..it really happened!  I am ENGAGED to the love of my LIFE!  I couldn't be happier...I'll tell you how it went down!

Friday night David arrived and while my Sister, Mom and I went shopping David was at my house asking my Dad for permission to marry me!  I had a feeling it was coming and we even had a bet that he wouldn't do it..and I LOST, but I'm so glad I lost!

Anyways, Saturday the plan was supposed to be my parent's go to the Cub's Game and My sister her bf David and myself meet them at Navy Pier for dinner, and to walk around (since David has never been downtown Chicago)...us Suburbs kids take it for granted.  Anyways it rained, and poured, and rained some more..so plans got changed...no Navy Pier :(  ..instead we just went to dinner and the movies..so here comes the fun part...

Sunday my sister, her boyfriend, David, and myself went to the Cubs game, and then my parent's pulled the opposite and they met us at Navy Pier afterwards...and to make a long story short...we decided to ride the HUGE farris wheel at Navy Pier...and in cart 39...David asked me about half way up if I would marry him!  It was romantic, amazing..and I am so excited!  I'll be honest though...the first words out of my mouth were...you're not kidding are you?  (because he's such a jokester) and when he said no..I said "YES, NOW PUT THAT SUCKER ON MY FINGER"!  It was wonderful, I am so happy and now have so many wedding plans to get ready!  I feel so lucky that I get to spend the rest of my life with David, and can't wait to share all of the fun stuff with you along the way!  I'm gonna add some pictures from that night so you can see!  Ignore my crazy messed up hair and barely any make up from being outside all day!

We're kinda crazy!

The love of my life and me!

@ The Cubbies Game...ya that's right he's wearing Pirates stuff...

So this weekend was wonderful!  Saturday I went to see Jessica for her dress fitting, David and I spent the night grocery shopping, eating dinner, and watching movies...the perfect way to celebrate 1 year since me met!  Sunday he went to fire training and I went and watched for a little bit...he's such a cute fire fighter...we worked on a few projects..went to go see our friends new baby girl...SOO cute..and then I headed back home...2 hour long boring drive, but it went by fast.  I'll post picture's later but just thought I would give the update...also just in case anyone was wondering what's going on with WW..as of last wk I am down 17 pounds!  Woo woo Go me!

Also anyone that has Blogger do you know how to upload pictures from your phone onto Blogger...I signed up for it and it said everything was working and then when I tried to send the pictures it shot me down!  Any ideas????

You put your right foot in...

You put your left foot in....and they don't fit!  So I'll be honest I have a compulsive shopping addiction.  I buy just to buy...I have so many projects that need to be done and I don't even know where to begin...but...this one is simple!

Yes they are on the kitchen table..shame on me!
I bought these shoes at Carson's....they were $5.99 and then marked down to $1.25...woo go me!  Instead of trying them on like a normal person I saw the size and scooped them up and headed for the cashier.  Too bad one morning when I was getting ready for work I went to put them on and they didn't FIT...I was in shock..I have huge feet {Size 10}..but really how could they be too big?  Well they were..just in the back strap piece...

My first craft project

Today I thought I'd share with you when I first really decided I liked crafting...I was in college and was moving into a really creepy, old, ugly apartment where they wouldn't let you paint the walls, and for the first month and a half even after we shampooed the carpet our feet would turn black...gross..but anyways I decided I wanted my room to be bright and full of life just like me.  I don't have pictures from my actual room anymore but just know it was zebra patterned and polka dotted...a typical college room, except I had made everything myself...from picture frames, to mirrors, to nightstands, and a bed skirt.  I thought I was pretty crafty...not so much but people loved it!  Anyways I do still have one of the items left after I gave the rest of it to my cousins daughter..shes like 8...exactly the age of someone who should have all the bright crazy stuff I did...but anyways here is the mirror..I still take pride in it even though I look at it and go what were you thinking!  What was your first craft project ever???

Ignore the things in the mirror..it needs to be cleaned and thats all the stuff in my office at work on the desk whoopsies!

can we say HELLO YELLOW!

So my wknd project .... I decided to paint a rug..I know everyone's doing it..but I wanted to see if I could do it for myself with a small one so that I could do bigger ones in the future!  And I did..and rocked it!  WOOWOO...but anyways I'm going to show you how to paint the rug and get your input!

First: Buy yourself a rug, or use an old one that needs a facelift, some painters tape, paint, and sponge brushes if you don't have them.

This is what I started with...a $3.99 rug from Menards and some painters tape I already had.

Lay down the rug flat and just start taping whatever kind of pattern you want. I chose Chevron because I wanted some flair and I like crazy! Some people like to do thicker stripes and others choose close together..I chose close together and to be honest I didn't measure I just taped where I thought needed it...but make sure you have perfectly pointed tips...I forgot to take a picture of just the taped off pieces ..such a horrible blogger...but the next thing you want to do is lay down lots of newspaper underneath and around.  I also cut open a box and put it underneath just incase the paint went through the rug...it didn't but just for clean up reasons then start painting.  I chose to do 2 colors so I switched between every other.

I did the yellow first as you can see I let it dry and then I went over it again just to make it pop...afterwards I did white..

The white deff. needed a second coat so I waited for it to dry and put the 2nd coat on..

Can you see the difference between the first coat and 2nd coat....after it was all done and dried I took the tape off...

and here is the final product....I love it...David loves it..my family thinks it's loud just like me..so I guess that means they love it too!  I'm still debating on putting some kind of protective topping on it, but not sure what to use...any ideas?  How do you think it turned out???  Not bad for my first go at it..is it??

Wknd update...

So this wknd I didn't blog...whoopsies..I had a very busy and full of fun weekend, but I did get in a craft project and a lot of family time!

I'll start off  by telling you my weekend didn't start off as planned....David decided to come up to see my family and I for a change..but wasn't supposed to show up until Saturday night due to work.. So my sister and I Friday night went to dinner and shopping, but in the middle of shopping we got a phone call from my Uncle (who lives across the street) telling me someone broke into our house that my front door is wide open and my dog was out...not thinking because I was in too much of a panic I asked is there a big red truck in the street(David's) and he said no..so we flew home...not thinking they would call our parents first or the cops...duh!  Anyways we drive down our street and who do we see...oh David sitting with my Aunt and Uncle waiting to see our panicked faces...so we got played and no one broke into our house....but it was a great surprise that I got another whole day to spend with David..and that meant he got stuck going with me to David's Bridal to pick up all 3 of my bridesmaids dresses Saturday morning..bwahaha I'm a horrible girlfriend!

Moving on my whole family and Aunt and Uncle plus Grant and Graeden went to the Fair Saturday night in the rain...it was a lot of fun...

yup that's my sister in the bubble...we took plenty of pictures and videos...GREAT TIME

I'm going to add the craft project in a separate post in a couple of minutes in case anyone wants to just skip this one!  and I'm gonna add some more pictures from the weekend to the bottom of this one as well!  Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

VINTAGE...

So yesterday on our lunch break a co-worker and I decided to go to the thrift store across from work (walking distance) who wouldn't!  Well anyways I had never been in this particular thrift store because it looked small and I heard it was really over priced...but for a good cause their profits go to the women's homeless shelter.  Anyways...we walk in and at first its all clothes and when you get to the bath...woowoo I found my first ever thrift store who carries FABRIC!  I have read so many blogs about people finding fabric in re-sale shops/thrift stores/etc. and I have always been jealous..and then wam bam I found one too!  They didn't have a huge selection but decent enough to where I bought two huge pieces of fabric for ..are you ready for it...2 DOLLARS a piece!  I was so excited...

We continued to walk through the store and there was another room hidden that I didn't realize was part of it..low and behold that's where they kept all the furniture!  So I looked around with no intentions on buying anything because David would kill me if I brought anything else home and my parents would kill me for having to store in it our house until I could bring it to Davids..  But along the way I found a bathroom set that was the exact colors that I want to do the kitchen in...so I didn't buy it but I sure did take a picture so I could remember how great those colors looked together...and then out of no where...BAM my dream couch just sitting there waiting for me to buy it!  Vintage, in good shape, and only $75 bucks...I didn't buy it because I realized I needed to talk to David about just buying a couch but I had no intentions on putting it in the family room just my small craft room...but when I sent him the picture his exact words were "eww God no" and my heart was broken...after pouting for a little while I decided to get on one of my favorite blogs BETTERAFTER and sure enough someone had re-done a chair that looked like the exact same fabric..and my pouty self cheered up and decided I will wait until I officially move in there and then I will take on a big task of re-doing a chair to look just like the couch...sad day still for not getting the couch..but I may as well learn to reupholster sooner or later...I'll attach the pictures and if anyone wants to know where this thrift store is just ask and I'll share xoxo

The colors I want for both the kitchen and family room!

The beautiful vintage couch... :(

yumm!

Ok I'll admit it...I am a picky eater!  Nothing on my plate can touch, if I'm eating steak my corn on the cob has to be on a seperate plate...I don't like veggies...and if I could I would just eat chocolate all day...YUMM!  But...last night I decided to try something my family was eating that for 26 years I've looked at and gone that looks NARSTY....they all tear into like it's going out of season...so I tried with a wince and a cringe...Fried Zucchini...and AHHHHH....it was DELICIOSO/ AWESOME/and YUMMY all put together.  What have I been missing out on the past 26 years of my life!!???  It was like the best tasting thing since sliced bread..and I was fighting the rest of my family for pieces...now I am on ww..so that was a BAD IDEA...so I guess I should go work out a little longer today..but..I looked up some healthy recipes for it on ww in case anyone wanted to try what I'm going to try!  Also..this wknd is our county fair, and I know my mom loves to get their fried veggies so I'm just gonna sneak one and make sure I park VERY FAR away so that I walk off all that fat...but here's the recipe's...

RED????

Some of you have seen my spare bedroom re-do...and I love it..but it's not completed yet. The tall dresser and headboard still need to be re-done, and this is what I'm thinking...I should stain the dall dresser to match my night stand...but what if for a splash of BRIGHT color..I paint the headboard red! It's not real wood and I'm not really sure how to work with that besides painting..but would red be too much?? I'll post a picture of how it looks now...please give me input!
this is before the new comforter was added, but its a close up of the headboard and walls...

this is the actual comforter now...what do you think?????

Facebook

Well I made a page on facebook now that can just be followed on facebook for this blog, or together...if you're interested just go to facebook and in the search engine just type in simple2chic and bam I should pop up! Otherwise on the left hand side of the blog there should be a link....also..for facebook I had to come up with a really quick picture...what do you think??? Hope everyone's having a great Tuesday!!

They look like this...

mine are white, black, turquoise and black, and then white and black..I love them!! I'll try to take a picture and post it tomorrow for you to see..but then anyways I left the salon to go get ready...my mom, sister, Claire and I went to see Jerrod Niemann, Blake Shelton, and Brad Paisley Saturday night...then Sunday we shopped all day and then dyed my hair, cut it and that was my wknd! So no crafts were involved...but I will let you know...today was weigh in day and I lost 1.2 pounds this week and I'm down 14.2 pounds in 4 wks..go me! WW really works...P.S...I am kind of working on a craft project as a gift right now...but I don't want to post it until after I give the gift incase they read this, but I'll give you a hint...they involved chalk!! xoxo toodles!
